I might be late to the party, but I am obsessed with this line of protein bars! All of the favors are like eating a candy bar - so so good.

I recently did a 'move out' cleaning for a client of mine, and I knew the dishwasher was going to need some serious help. I didn't want to clean the whole thing by hand, so I took a chance and bought this Finish dishwasher cleaner. When I tell you the dishwasher SPARKLED. I loved it so much, I bought one for me and am currently using it in my dishwasher now. You just peel the top sticker off, place upside down in the bottom dishwasher rack, and run your dishwasher on a long hot cycle. It's awesome.

FYI I did personally scrub some of the nooks and crannies and washed the filter before using this cleaner, so I'm not sure how it would work just throwing it in without any prep at all.

A friend of mine let me borrow her Demalogica face mist when we were on vacation together, because she knew I'd love it. I used it for a few days, and was so impressed I ordered it immediately. The difference this mist has made in my skin is undeniable. It hydrates, but also firms everything up almost instantly. I have decent skin, but I've been wanting to do something about my fine lines in my forehead. I feel like this has made a huge difference!

Adjusting To Life Without Our Sweet Delly

It's been several weeks now since we had to say goodbye to Delly. It's been a huge adjustment. I'm so glad we have the other pugs, because her absence is felt. I can't imagine if we didn't have any dogs in the house. I think about her every single day, usually multiple times a day! We really miss her, but we are happy she's not struggling anymore. Life has gotten easier in some ways. Our day really revolved around her. The other dogs don't need bathroom breaks as often, for example. Even the color of our dryer lint has changed! Going from 3 dogs to 2 is actually a huge shift I wasn't expecting.

I finally took her harness off the hook by the front door. I'm keeping it in a safe place, the pug hair and all. We also received her paw print from the cremation people.  I never thought I would want to have something like that, since I'm not very sentimental. But, I'm so glad we opted in for it. It does warm my heart to see it each day.

Special Meaning Items

My mom semi-recently became the power of attorney for a 90 year old long time family friend that has no children. She is living in an assisted living home, and so we are in the process of selling her house. It has been cool to see some familiar items there that I remember from childhood. She lived 2 streets over, so we often walked over after school. She's able to have quite a bit of personal items at her apartment in the facility, but there is a whole house and lifetime worth of things to sort through.

I was able to take home such a cool treasure! This really neat globe. Globes and maps have always been something mesmerizing to me. This is just a cool, and still very functional, piece that I'm happy to see in our home! Plus, it feels special since we are keeping it in the 'family'.

My Uncle also recently brought down some items that belonged to my grandparents and great grandparents, so we are swimming in nostalgia and interesting photos.

Here's my little PSA: do you elderly self a favor and go through items and collections long before you get old and have to have your family figure it out on their own.

Auntie Life

Sharing a couple of fun Auntie things. My nephew Lennox just graduated Kindergarten! I was able to take his graduation portraits, and they turned out unbelievable cute. I'm going to share that in another post because I have several favorites.

Additionally, my niece Gia had a dance recital and she was such a little star. You could tell she loved it, and had been working so hard to get the dances just right.

And, my nephew Carter has been making me so proud lately too! He got his grades way up, and now I owe him $100 because of a promise I made him when he wasn't doing as well. 😂 He's been messaging me through Google Chat, and it's brought me SO much happiness. I love talking with him. One thing I think is hilarious...when I tell him I love him, he says 'same'. 😂 Every once in awhile I'll get an 'Love you too'.

New Diffuser

I've always loved the YL Aria diffuser, but I sure haven't wanted to spend the money on it. I found this Dupe on Amazon. The 'on' button isn't the greatest, but otherwise this really does give the look of the Aria. I had fun getting a rainbow of oils from Grove, and they just looked so good lined up!

If you are new to Grove, you can use my link for 30% off! I normally share my Grove hauls, but I haven't really gotten many orders lately! I've been able to get most of my favorite cleaners from Walmart, but there are still several things I like to get from Grove.

Beautiful Family Time

At the end of the year, we got to have some extra special family time. I love these pictures we snapped at Blake's Aunt and Uncle's home. It was so beautiful, but super chilly - so we headed inside pretty quick.

Declutter Challenge

I'm planning to host a declutter challenge throughout the month of February. Decluttering is something you just have to do constantly, because 'stuff' really creeps up on you. I'm currently making a list of the areas I want to tackle and putting a schedule together. My plans are to share it here on the blog, in case anyone wants to join.

Here's a little sneak peak! I did under my bathroom sink and gosh did that feel great!

The Big Switch

Well, I did it. I switched to an iPhone. Am I the last person you know to do it? Probably. I never really had a big preference on the phone front. My phone started doing the thing phones do at the 2 year mark and began doing weird stuff.

The switch hasn't been painless. I have gotten prett used to it, and there are some nice features! My main complaints are the failed transfers from my old phone - so I really wish I had just manually moved everything myself.

I have really been enjoying my apple watch! I haven't even scratched the surface on all the things it is capable of yet.

My Eye Won't Stop Twitching

This happened to me a few years ago. My eye twitched for a solid month, if not longer. I read up on all kinds of reasons it could happen, but eventually it just went away. Well, here we are again. My left eye is twitching every few minutes. It's more annoying than anything! Last time I think magnesium really helped, but I'm already taking that, so now I don't know what to try.
A quick selfie of me that I took for Etsy:

The Most Delicious Cookies!

I made these gluten free double chocolate chip peppermint cookies this past week and they were so great! I'm glad I made these for a group of people, because if we just had them at home I would have eaten them all on my own. While Blake and I aren't gluten free, my dad, brother and several other relatives deal with Celiac, so I'm constantly looking for awesome GF recipes.

Like every other Defined Dish recipe I've ever made, we loved these. I really appreciate her approach to cleaner ingredients too. I had to buy a couple of baking supplies for these, but now my pantry is fully stocked to make them again soon.

New Boots

It was time to retire my old riding boots. I still love them, but they were absolutely worn out. (I still don't have the heart to get rid of them all together...) Blake actually picked out my new ones! These are Tommy Hilfiger and much less casual than boots I've had in the past. They are very nice, and I'm happy to have upgraded! They are a bit tight in the calf - which I have never had a problem with before, so that's something to note if you are a wide calf person.

Another Yummy Dinner

What a surprise, it's a Defined Dish recipe! This one is for a blackened Salmon taco bowl from The Comfortable Kitchen book. The flavors together are just great - don't skip the mango!

Draper James Dress

Ugh, I can't find this dress online to link for you! I have been shopping for some wintery dresses for our Alaskan cruise, and stumbled across this one on Poshmark. I don't think it's right for the cruise (well maybe, I don't know exactly what I'm bringing yet and we still have some time to go.) but I loved it so much I had to buy it. It's pretty perfect for Florida winter, with boots - but I also think it'll be pretty in the spring with heels.

Hunger Games Movie Date

Blake and I had a midweek movie date and saw the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes! It might surprise you but I didn't read the book. I tried when it came out in 2020, but I just don't think I was in the right headspace for it. But, we really enjoyed the movie! The first movies and books came out when I was in my early twenties. I think I'm about the same age as Jennifer Lawrence, so when I watched the original movies I didn't really recognize how young the kids were that were killing each other. Watching this movie felt totally different - it was a lot more upsetting to see it at my age now. Which is obviously the point.

I've been laughing at all the Reels on Instagram about the difference between watching the movie and reading the books. In the books, you are reading what's going on in Snow's head - but in the movie, you are just seeing a very attractive guy making these decisions and you end up rooting for him because you don't know how sick he is in the head.

Anyway, it was a great date! We love love love going to the movies. I cannot believe how expensive it is though. I accidentally ordered these $20 nachos, hahaha. They were actually really good, so whatever.

Sunrises

Now that the time has changed, we are treated to the best sunrises every morning when we take the dogs out.

Having Company

We've been having a lot of people in and out the past few weeks. Two friends just stayed for a night each, but then we had Blake's cousin come through and stay for the whole weekend. I just love having company. It's fun to spoil our friends! Ben specifically requested that I make my hummus, and it's such a compliment for someone to love something you make that much. (I shared my recipe here on the blog in 2014!! It's sort of different every time. This time I used fresh Thyme and Oregano from my 'garden' and added red pepper flakes)

FSU Basketball

I went to a basketball game with my brother one random Monday night, and we just had the best time. The tickets are cheap as can be, and it's really fun. The jumbotron antics are such a trip.

Doggy Sitting

My parents dog sat for my brother's dog Judd for a couple weeks, and we loved taking him on walks! We love our pugs, but we can all admit they are little couch potatoes who don't really go for long walks. (We do walk them, but it's quick and they just do their business and want to go back inside.) This day we took Judd out on the greenway for a few mile long walk and he was so happy. Had to pull a few ticks off him which was crazy, but he had a great time. We did too. 😊

Online Shopping

SO many sales!! I don't really need anything in particular - but I have been trying to find some jeans all year. It's been such a struggle. I know skinny jeans are 'out', but I cannot seem find jeans that are the right length, rise, and color. The jeans in this J. Crew order were quite disappointing unfortunately. The wash was awfully 80s, and they were so short. I really wish I could buy jeans with separate waist and length measurements. (Is this a me problem? I have a short waist, but my inseam is like over 31 inches.)

In other news, I've started shopping for my Alaskan cruise next spring. I realized, even though we cruise all the time, it's in the Caribbean and all of my cruise formal outfits are very summery. I just don't think that'll be the vibe. I've seen a lot of fancy wintery dresses out right now, but maybe I should wait until the end of the season and get a discount?  I have ordered a new puffer style jacket for this trip from L.L. Bean so I will report back!

New Office Arm Chair

We have had our new joint home office set up for just about a year now! It's been great, and we really like it. I have been wondering what to do with this little nook though. When this was our guest room, I had my desk in this spot, but when we did the flip flop - it was a place holder for our exercise bike. ( Which I'm debating on selling...that might be it's own post.)

A friend offered me this leather arm chair, and I was so excited! I thought a reading chair would be perfect in this spot. Blake and I barely got it up the stairs! I just knew our marriage was going to be in trouble. 😂 Just kidding, Blake was a great sport about it. He knew it'd be perfect in this spot, we just didn't know we'd have to go up and down the stairs 3 times before we figured out how to angle it.

It's great! The same friend also offered me a rug, which I was happy to add here too. It's not something I would have picked out for myself, but it does fill a lot of the negative space, and the pugs love it.

Kitchen Lamp

You don't know you need a cute little lamp in your kitchen, but you absolutely do. It adds such a nice ambiance, especially in the evening. I had this little cutie on our actual kitchen counter, but then moved it to this little side table I have in the kitchen. We only have so much counter space, and I felt like it made more sense here. This table was a bar set up for a bit, but now I've got it as a morning beverage station and it's so sweet. My dad stole my Keurig though, so will be needing to replace that. (Ok, ok, I stole it from him first, he just wanted it back.)

This lamp is from Walmart, but I can't seem to find it on their website. It's the Mainstays line and it was literally $10.

New (and Old!) Dishes and Silverware

Blake and I have been thinking we needed a new set of dinnerware for some time. Several of our plates had become warped somehow, maybe from the dishwasher. We also were missing so many spoons and forks! It was kind of strange. But, you know after having a set of dishes and silverware for over a decade - you expect that you'll need to replace them eventually.

Recently, my grandmother was doing some decluttering, and asked if I wanted her small set of china that she acquired when she was 16 from a door to door salesman. My mom remembers this being the fancy set they never used! It's a gorgeous white plate with some foliage in the middle and a gold rim. I think they are beautiful - and the only pieces missing from the set are a some tea cups. (Replacements.com is an excellent way to complete sets of things by the way! They've got this set, I'm just waiting to see the tea cups!)

Anyway, to compliment these pretty plates, we chose an every day set from Target that are just awesome. Such a good price point too. And, for some fun - I went with a gold set of silverware. I love them so much. They weren't cheap, but I'm really happy with the overall look.

Just a thought here, I really wish dinnerware was sold in sets of 6 instead of 4. I had to buy 2 sets of 4 to make 8, but I don't even have 8 chairs in our house.

My Cousin's 15th Anniversary Party

We just got back from celebrating my cousin's 15th wedding anniversary, and it was such a great party! I was in their wedding party, so it just felt extra special to be there and see how they've grown. I got to wear my Gal Meets Glam dress that I scored on ThreadUp.

There was a photo booth that was a huge hit! They came out with a thousand props and then your pictures were printed right then and there. Super fun, and a souvenir I'll treasure!

2nd Hand Romper Tradition

So weird, but this is now the 3rd romper I've gotten second hand from Sandy's in Gainesville. If you are ever nearby, it's a fantastic resale store. They buy clothes outright, and it's always been a fun way to earn some extra cash. I tried on a couple things while in the store and ended up with a Lululemon tunic top that I think will be great for leggings this winter, and then this cute cute cute romper from Loft. It still had tags on it, so super score. I took this picture because I needed my sister to tell me if it fit okay, since it wasn't my normal size. It's actually one size up, but in petite - so it actually worked well.

I absolutely love buying clothes second hand. Hot tip though, you have to try everything on. And look in different sizes. Used clothing has been washed and worn, so it may not fit like you expect. Also, someone may have donated it because it didn't fit them right in the first place, so it could be an abnormal representation of that size. I say, love it or don't buy it.

That's it from me! Hope you have a great week!

Irish Mules

First of all, major heart eyes for my parent's back yard. They've put so much blood, sweat, and tears into it this past month - and it's really paid off. Just in time for some cooler weather too!

Ever since we went to Ireland last year, and visited the Jameson Distillery, I've been obsessed with this cocktail. They called it an Irish Mule, so that's what I've been saying. It's 1 part whiskey, 3 parts ginger beer, and lime. Easy, simple - but OH so good.

Headphone Upgrade

Between listening to audiobooks everyday, needing a good running playlist, and enjoying the very long Marco Polos my besties send me - I have headphones on all the time. I'm almost embarrassed about how my old ones looked. It was a splurge, but I actually bought myself 2 pairs. One over the ear, and the other are earbuds. Soundcore has always been a really solid brand for us, so that's what I went with here. They are both sound cancelling, which I've never experienced! Such a cool technology.

I'm also loving my Simplified planner! I did a full tour of this planner a few weeks ago, but it starts in September so I've officially been using it for over a month. It's been the perfect fit - I love it!

Erin Condren Notebook

These EC spiral notebooks are an all time favorite. I just finished up a notebook, and got really excited to pull out a blank one from my stash. They are just the best notebook. You can find several around my house at any given time, each with a different purpose.

If you are new to Erin Condren, I have a $10 referral link! Now that I am using the last blank one, I know I need to stock up on the next sale. The cover selection is just so good, it's always hard to choose.

Friend's 25th Anniversary

We attended my parent's BFF's anniversary party this weekend and I thought the cake topper was just SO perfect. A little hard to see in this picture, but it's silver for the 25th anniversary and says '25 years of adventure'. I loved the sentiment, especially for a couple that loves to travel.

I wore my purple Target dress that I shared in this post

Kidnapped Stuffies

I've had a lot of time with my nephews this past week! They stayed over Saturday night, and accidentally left their stuffed animals. (Meet Bear Bear and DJ- short for Dog Johnson) I took this cute photo with them to send to my sister and I just think it's so cute and funny.

Bear Bear and DJ don't want to go home, so they'll just have to come back and stay again. 😊 Maybe this is just cute to me as their aunt, but oh well. I think other aunties out there get it.

Hurricane Prep

We are currently glued to the weather channel as Idalia makes her way to Florida. Right now, the projection has us in the west part of the cone - but we expect the path to become more sure throughout the day. All I know is we are getting some pretty bad weather tomorrow. We have all our supplies and have put up all our outdoor décor and potential projectiles. My next task is getting absolutely all the laundry done in case we lose power.

We love living in Florida, but yep, this is the reality of it! So thankful my mom and dad have put in a whole house generator. That takes a lot of the pressure off. At least we know our food won't go bad and we can take refuge in their A/C.

Pupdate

Isn't this picture of the pugs the cutest?! In my last three things post, I shared that Delly had a rough month. She had an unfortunate eye injury! Our poor girl is doing a lot better. She got to take the cone off and she's off all the medicines. She still has a significant scar, that we assume will heal some more. But, she's likely to have lost some vision. (She's approaching 13, she already has lost some eyesight.) She's so much better now, and we are relieved not to be running back and forth to the vet very few days. (Read: $$$)

Winston and Bailey went in for grooming and the groomer put the cutest bandanas on them. I couldn't stand it, it was so cute. They didn't keep them on very long, but I loved it while it lasted.

Work Headshots

We took some fresh office photos for social media and our website recently. It was also my 15th work anniversary. (I started in High School doing the DCT program where I'd go to school in the morning, and then work in the afternoon.) This day was SO hot, you can definitely see the glisten on my pink cheeks. But, that morning I was convinced I had had it with my hair and was ready to do a big chop. Then after I saw the pictures, I changed my mind. Even though all that hair is like 4,000 degrees...it looks pretty good, haha.

Bonus 4th thing:
My Parent's 35th Anniversary!

It was so fun to take my mom and dad out for their anniversary this week. It's their 35th! We hope to celebrate as a whole family (my siblings and their families too) in North Georgia soon, but we are kinda stuck waiting to see what this storm will do and if we are safe to go.
