Summer 2019 Playlist | www.kristenwoolsey.com

Does anyone else remember a time in your life where music was everything? When I was a teenager I loved discovering new bands, wearing band t shirts from Hot Topic (the looks I got when I went in that store! I was a preppy girl who loved music, what can I say.), making CDs for friends, belting out my favorite songs in my first car with all the windows down...Maybe I'm waxing poetic here, but I just remember music being the only thing that 'got me' at the time.

I think that faded away in my twenties as I figured out who I am and knew how to express myself without a song lyric. I was reflecting on that time recently when my husband and I were driving home from a weekend trip and I realized we never turned the radio on once. (In fact my radio doesn't even work properly.)

I had a sudden urge to listen to music though, when we had an unexpected day off. (Rarer and rarer these days!) We headed over to use a friend's pool, and all I wanted to do was roll down the windows and sing along! I guess I still love music, I just need to be in the mood for it. Otherwise, you'll find me listening to an audiobook or podcast.

Here's my playlist!

Let's Chat! Drop your favorite summer song in the comments below! I used to share playlists all the time. The last one was in 2016! Is this something you are interested in seeing more of? Let me know!

Playlist No.10 | Summer 2019

Monday, July 15, 2019

Weirdly, one of my favorite things to share with you is what I'm currently listening to. I think it speaks volumes to my state of mind and how I've been feeling lately. Admittedly my tastes change from day to day, but this playlist is pretty much alternative. If I had to describe my favorite type of music, it would have to fall under the umbrella of feel-good-upbeat-jamming-out-in-the-car-with-the-windows-down.

I'm excited about Kings of Leon's new album, and they are first up on the playlist. We've also been watching Smallville on Hulu and I've been having fun flashbacks to early 2000's music, so a Finger Eleven song makes an appearance on this list too. It's so funny because the radio played that song to death and I was so sick of it when it came out! But now it's old enough to be vintage or something, haha!

Fall Playlist - 2016

Tuesday, November 1, 2016

Lately, anytime I'm in the car or cleaning up around the house I'm listening to an audiobook or a podcast rather than music. I love audiobooks, but sometimes you just want to zone out and not have to focus on a story. I've got a few playlists going - one for the car, one for non-offensive background music, one for Disney songs...but here is my Spring 2016 playlist! (You can find my previous playlists here!

*Disclaimer: I much prefer the radio version of Cake By The Ocean. Spotify doesn't have the clean version, so cover your ears, haha.

Enjoy! & Tell me what you're listening to!

Spring 2016 Playlist

Wednesday, March 9, 2016

The question "what type of music do you like?" gives me major anxiety! When my brain tries to process the question I can feel a deep cavern open up in my mind and my little brain cells scrambling to find the correct file. I have always had such a variety in my music selection. Country music doesn't even bother me. I went through a phase early in High School of liking harder rock music, which evokes such a funny mental picture- a little preppy white girl listening to some of that stuff.

Some days I feel like listening to a Disney soundtrack and others I want to belt out a song from 2005! I can't choose just one favorite song, but here are my top 10 favorites! Hit the play button as I explain myself! Also, these are not in any particular order.

one// You Make My Dreams - Hall & Oates
This song just makes me want to dance and it makes me happy!

two// The Girl - City and Color
If I had to pick a very favorite this might be it. It's like super long too. I actually like all City and Color songs but this one is my fav.

three// Question - Old 97's
This song reminds me of when Blake and I were dating, so it's probably more nostalgia than anything. Such a sweet and romantic song.

four// Cute Without the E - Taking Back Sunday
I know every word of this song and have such fond memories of screaming it out loud with the windows down in the car. It's on my running playlist too so it always gets me energized.

five// Banana Pancakes - Jack Johnson
A much more chill song that I love listening to while making dinner or breakfast for that matter.

six// First Day of My Life - Bright Eyes
Another romantic song that I think is timeless. His voice is so shaky but it sounds so sincere.

seven// Sugar, We're Goin Down - Fall Out Boy
I love me some Fall Out Boy, hehe. This song takes me right back to 2005 and all that teenage angst. Those feelings are so real and you feel like music is the only way to express yourself.

eight// Sweet Baby James - James Taylor
This playlist is turning so random! James Taylor makes me think of my mom. She wore out this CD when I was a kid and it just makes me think of that time. I swear I will name my future son James so I can sing him this song.

nine// Sex on Fire - Kings of Leon
They played this on the radio to death, but I still love it and I haven't gotten sick of it yet. Also it makes me think of Rockband and all the fun we had playing that with our friends.

ten// Island In The Sun - Weezer
Can't do this playlist without including Weezer! I love the whole blue album, but this one is my very favorite of their collection. Perfect drive to the beach song

bonus(es)// Polaroid - Imagine Dragons // She Is Love - Parachute //  Good Life - One Republic
Okay, I knew I couldn't narrow it down to ten. Imagine Dragons is one of my favorite bands so it's hard to pick just one song from them. She is Love is another sweet romantic song. I used to hate One Republic! But, this song was on a Disney commercial and it made me feel all warm inside and since then it's been one of my favorites.

Leave me a comment: Do we share any favorites? Do you have a hard time narrowing it down too? Do you love all types of music?

My top-ten all time favorite songs!

Tuesday, December 22, 2015

Time for another playlist! My current playlist is kind of random-I even threw in a Justin Bieber song. What can I say, I'm feelin' it. I also think this makes a good running playlist! Nothing like cooler weather and a new playlist to motivate your run. Tell me what's on your current playlist!

Autumn Playlist 2015

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

It's time for another playlist! I listen to music mostly in the car, so I feel like I gravitate towards music that makes you feel like rolling the windows down. I love having the sunroof open and the radio turned up! My playlist for the summer is really the soundtrack to my car rides. Because of this I try not to play any angry music, that way it doesn't make me an aggressive driver! These songs are fun and mellow, characteristics I would love to emulate (especially in the car!).

Leave me a comment: What are your favorite songs to play in the car with the windows rolled down? Any new favorite music?

Summer Playlist

I love it when it get warm and you can drive around town with your windows down. There is nothing like it. I always imagine those ladies in old movies who have headscarves on in a convertible when my hair is flying around. Naturally you have to have the music up really loud too. Here is my playlist for that windows-down kind of day!

Enjoy! And leave me a comment with what you're listening to!

Spring 2015 Playlist

We are getting ready for a road trip this week, and I always like to get a few playlists together for the drive. I thought I would share this one! Most of these are not new songs, but I either just recently stumbled upon them or they are still favorites. I feel like I consume music at an alarming rate!

Leave me comment: What are you guys listening to? How do you keep entertained on a roadtrip?

Winter Playlist

Did anyone else have RockBand/Guitar Hero parties? We loved this game, and often had people over to play it with us. (a lot of people!) Personally, I liked playing the bass, and then loved playing the keyboard when that came out. Singing was fun too, but only when you could convince someone else to belt it out with you!
I'm doing a 5k on Sunday, and have been working on a playlist to motivate me. (haven't be practicing..whoops)
These are my favorite RockBand songs to work out to! The playlist is right around 40 minutes-what I hope to finish the race in.

What are your favorite workout songs?

I go through music so quickly!
It is funny-after hearing a song so many times on the radio, I am so over it. But, I can listen certain old songs on repeat for days!
I try to run a few days a week, and I must have good music to help me get through it.
Here is a quick playlist of my current favorite running songs!

What are you listening to?
