Alba Botanica Sunscreen
I'm still on the hunt for a good mineral sunscreen that doesn't make me turn white as a ghost, but for now I'm really loving how this sunscreen smells and that it's free of a lot of gross ingredients! Maybe this is a Florida thing, but I have this on Subscribe and Save and get a fresh bottle each month.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things | Amazon Finds

Thursday, May 28, 2020

Believe it or not, I woke up to a clean kitchen. You can't tell that from the following photos, however, because I made a giant mess with a marathon of cooking and meal prepping! This morning I made air fryer bagels, cut up a watermelon, tried a new recipe for energy bites, and made a fresh batch of my laundry detergent. Needless to say, my kitchen was a wreck!

Looking on the bright side, it made for some pretty incredible before and after photos. Let's get to work!

Hi Friends and Happy Friday! Here are 5 things I want to tell you about:

One | Target Dress
I'm loving the tiered dress style! I picked this dress up on my last Target run. I might look a little frumpy, but I will totally get over it for how comfy this dress is! I can't find the exact dress to link, but Target has several similar styles right now.

Mercair Versus Poshmark | Which resale platform is better? | www.kristenwoolsey.com

If you've been reading for any length of time, you know I have a passion for shopping used. I love the thrill of finding the perfect item for a fraction of the cost as new! Almost as much as I love that feeling, I also love making money from things we aren't using. Ebay has been really successful for me over the years, but I've also ventured into other apps/websites.

I mainly used Poshmark, but in the last few months Mercari also popped up on my radar. I was used to using Poshmark, and didn't really think that one app was better than the other. Then again, I wasn't really having huge success with Poshmark, so I decided to give Mercari a go. Spoiler alert-Mercari is now my preference. Let's talk about the differences and why I have a new favorite. (But, also why you might like Poshmark better!)

Because I'm really nosey, and I love to see what other people are buying-I thought maybe you guys are curious too. Grove Collaborative is something I talk about on the blog all the time, so you are probably already familiar with the company. In a nutshell, it's an online store for clean beauty and home items. It can be set up like a subscription and you can get all your favorites sent automatically.

If you are a new to Grove you can get a free cleaning gift set with my link. (And don't forget to use Rakuten with your first purchase for cash back as well!)
Here's what I got:

ColorStreet Nails
My sister in law started selling ColorStreet Nail Strips, and she gave me a sample to try and it turned out so cute! It's a really easy process and it lasts a long time. Plus they are easy to remove. Perfect timing for not being able to get a manicure at a salon. I tried the color Tokyo Lights, and paired it with Essie's Bahama Mama.

You wouldn't believe how excited I was to write this post! It seems like while everyone has been stuck at home more, cleaning and cooking trends have gone viral. One of those viral cleaning hacks I've seen over and over again in the past few weeks is laundry stripping. I had never heard of laundry stripping before, but the before and after photos pulled me in right away!

Drugstore Beauty Faves | www.kristenwoolsey.com

I've been a It Cosmetics concealer person for years, but lately I noticed it was settling under my eyes in a very unattractive way. (It's perfect for blemishes though!) I wanted to try something thinner, and this was the perfect choice. I love the colorstay foundation, and have been equally happy with this concealer. I got the shade light medium.

We've been using Instacart for over a year now, and it has been a lifesaver! Especially in the last few weeks. Since we've been using it, most of our shoppers have been excellent. I can really only remember once or twice when we were brought the wrong thing. Lately, Instacart has hired a bunch of new shoppers, and in the last few weeks I can tell we've had some newbies shopping for us.

For example, on this particular day, we were brought 1 pound of ginger when we requested just 1 piece of ginger. This is the same shopper who also picked out seltzer water instead of tonic water. We laughed about it, but then wondered what the heck we were going to do with seltzer and a pound of ginger. (Our Publix has not been accepting returns of any kind during the pandemic.)

As the saying goes, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. So that's what we set out to do! It took some brainstorming, but it finally donned on us to make ginger ale. It ended up being so delicious, I had to write about it!

Here's the recipe:
Ginger Syrup
Peel and chop 1 and 1 half cup ginger
Add to 2 cups of water, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes.  Let cool for 20 minutes after that.
Strain out the water into a pitcher, squeezing the ginger to get all the liquid out. (A sieve would be useful here, but we just used my lemon juicer.)
Return liquid to the saucepan, add 3/4 cup sugar and a pinch of salt. Cook on medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Chill. (This syrup lasts a week in the fridge.)

Now, here is where you will do something different than we did. We own a Ukeg, which is a pressurized keg. Usually we use it for beer, but it will also keep soda carbonated. If you aren't putting your drink in something like this you will have to assemble your drinks when you are ready to drink!

To assemble your ginger ale:
1/4 cup ginger syrup
1 teaspoon lime juice
3/4 seltzer water
Over ice!
(This ratio is really to taste. We actually added more seltzer because the ginger was so strong.)

If you have a keg like us, you just mix everything into a pitcher, and then add to the keg.

This drink is just absolutely so refreshing, and perfect for an outdoor picnic or bbq. I may even have had it for breakfast. 😊
