When the weather report said that we would be getting snow in North Florida, I laughed it off. Certainly, this is a long shot right? Regardless, I still eagerly peaked out the window Tuesday night, and laughed out loud in disbelief as soon as the first flakes fell. We went outside and took a couple of videos, and just knew it wouldn't stick around long.

Well, it did! I woke up early Wednesday morning to the sound of my neighbor's kids squealing with delight as they played outside. I could not believe it when I opened my door and we had 3-4" of snow on the ground. This just doesn't happen. 100 degree Julys - for sure. But snow?!

I know it was more ice than snow, but it was SO cool to see our neighborhood blanketed in white. The neighborhood kids sledding in laundry baskets or on old boxes was such a joy to see. The pugs were unimpressed, but they were oh-so-happy we were home for the day to cuddle on the couch.

It was all fun until our power went out around 10 am. I think someone took out a power pole trying to drive around. People don't drive well on a sunny day here, so it's not too surprising. Very grateful for the utility workers who got us back up and running really quickly.

This was just such a cool day that needed to be documented!

Florida Snow Day!

Wednesday, January 22, 2025

Just a little photo diary of our New Years Day hike around Lake Lafayette. It's about 3 miles total, and a very easy trail. Just a little muddy in the last quarter!

Blake and I love to do trails, and it's kind of become a tradition to do one on NYD. We both have off work and it's nice to be leisurely about it.

Lake Lafayette Heritage Trail

Monday, January 8, 2024

Blake and I both had the day off last Friday, so we decided to go on a little adventure! Actually, hiking trails is one of our favorite things to do together and we try to make time for it when we can. Especially now that the temperatures here are more bearable. I use the All Trails app to bookmark future trails we want to try. One that has been on my list for quite awhile was the Garden of Eden trail in Bristol, FL. Bristol is just about the middle of nowhere, but it's very cool in that it actually has elevation. You'd never know you were in Florida.

I won't lie it was actually very challenging. Lots of steps, washed out areas, and trees down along the route. There was at least one point we had to crawl on hands and knees under a tree to get through. The challenge is absolutely worth it when you get to the peak of the bluff and get to see the view! It's just beautiful. Even a few pops of fall foliage! (Big deal for Florida)

Things to note:
- There are no facilities at the head of this trail. There is a water station, which I think is very important if you are going to attempt this during the summer.
- Highly recommend a walking stick or hiking poles because you will need something to hold onto both descending and ascending in several spots. Fortunately for me, my husband makes a great hand hold, haha. He helped me a lot and I would say I'm not exactly out of shape.
- If you want to cut down on some of the difficultly, go right when you reach the river loop. The scenic photo op is not too far from the entrance of the loop. We, on the other hand, went left. It was absolutely the least maintained part of the trail. Although, that may have made the view even more of a reward.

Garden of Eden Trail - Bristol FL

Thursday, November 16, 2023

Something I look forward to every summer is our trip to West Palm Beach with Blake's family. We've been going off and on our whole marriage, so it's been a really cool mile marker trip. Thinking back to when we were newly weds going, or when my niece and nephew were newborns there...it's just a special place.

We stay at the Oceana Palms Marriot vacation club resort, and if you wanna see what the rooms look like, you'll want to pop over to 2021's post. One of my favorite trips was documented in this post where we made a little vlog of the vacation.

Here's a few photos from our week, and if you scroll to the end I made a little TikTok to document the last day.

West Palm Vacation 2023

Monday, July 17, 2023

Just popping in today to share a few photos from our weekend away in St. Augustine! It was our 13th wedding anniversary, as well as my uncle's wedding. We spent most of the weekend enjoying time with my cousins and other family. Can't help but laugh that the weekend of our actual wedding was frigid, and here we are spending the same weekend in 2023 by the pool and liberally applying sunscreen.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in St Augustine, and highly recommend it. Pricey, but so nice and right on the ocean.

My dad was the officiant!

This year Blake and I's gift to each other were new carryons! I did a whole post to review these great bags here. We really loved using them for the first time on this trip. The only thing is that because we got the same color it was difficult to identify whose was whose. So I added a monogram when we got back and I love it even more. (I'd love to make you any kind of label or monogram over at my Esty shop! Pssttt: there is a super secret coupon code for blog readers on the coupons for you page.)

I've actually documented quite a few anniversaries here on the blog!
