We spent our long weekend on St. George Island, right off the north Florida coast on the Gulf.
St. George is so special to our family. My dad spent his summers here with his family growing up, and we have been coming to SGI with my family since I was born.  The very first time I ever drove a car was on the island! We love it here! So many good memories. I'm happy to continue the tradition.
We rented a little house that was able to sleep the whole family. (Although my poor 6'5 brother got the couch...)
It was so great to be able to bring Delly too! I hate leaving her at home when we go on trips. We have found a great house-sitter, but it is still better to bring her with us. In fact there were a lot of other families with their pets on the Island. Next door were 2 Great Danes! They were huge!

It is nice just to be together and it is so funny how we all just fall back into our family roles.

On Friday we spent most of the day in Apalachicola! It was pretty windy, but we dodged in and out of shops to stay warm. There are some really neat local stores to look through. My favorite was The Tin Shed-there were so many antique boat parts and weird odds and ends to look at.
We at at Boss Oyster on the water for lunch, and it was delicious. It was funny to watch the people at the table next to us eat their first oysters, I so take it for granted-I've been eating them off the shell since I was little. (never raw though, ew!)

On Saturday was the FSU/UF game! Always a stressful game, and always very tense in our family. Blake is a die hard Gator-he even went to the University of Florida. But, being raised in Tallahassee, I basically have to be a Seminole fan. This year the 'Noles won-but barely.
The house we rented had the oldest TV I have ever seen, so we walked down to BJ's Pizza to watch. Super good pizza and we basically had the place to ourselves-which was good because we got pretty loud! The kitchen staff were Seminole fans, and would come out for high-fives when we scored.

I also love that my family stays so active on vacation. We eat totally bad, but we definitely burn it off! We all took long walks on the beach, and on the bike trail. And the guys played basketball at the park. That was really fun to watch-especially because my dad decided to play in boat shoes and Blake played in jeans.

Oh! and Thursday we did the Turkey Trot in Tallahassee. Super fun! 6,000 racers! I so run better in the cold! Finished in 38 minutes, which was way better than the Hurricane Run

Leave me a comment: Have you ever been to St. George Island? Do you like oysters?

Weekend Round Up

Sunday, November 30, 2014

I'm watching:
The Jurrassic World trailer! I'm so excited for this movie to come out next summer. Looks like it could be good... Oh and for the record I'm guessing they made a hybrid t-rex/velociraptor .
A Velicorex if you will..

I'm (still) reading:

Beach Music - Pat Conroy

I'm hoping to get a lot of reading done while we are on vacation!

I'm listening to:

Since we saw the new Hunger Games movie I have had 2 songs from its soundtrack in my head. Mostly: Yellow Flicker Beat - Lorde

I'm wishing for:

A new luggage set!! We pulled out our suitcases this week to pack for vacation, and they are in pretty bad shape. I've had our current set forever, and they are basically falling apart. Those suitcases have been a lot of places! But, it is time for an upgrade!
I will not be buying another black set though! Every time we are waiting for our bags at the airport, 4000 other people have black suitcases that look exactly like ours.

I need to:

Decide what I am making for breakfast! While we are on vacation we are each in charge of making breakfast for the whole family one day. I still don't know what to make. I'm thinking breakfast burritos.
I'm looking forward to:
FSU v UF 2014!

Ok, so I'm not reallllly looking forward to this game. We are a 'house divided'-I'm a 'Nole and Blake is a Gator fan (this is us on last year's game day). This is the only day where that matters. One of us is not going to bed happy. But, I am looking forward to the trash talk and 'friendly' competition! Neither team has been super predictable this year, so we will see how it turns out.

I'm making:
This week I have been working on our company website at work. I've actually learned so much about HTML code from blogging, so I am transferring that knowledge over to work. The problem is our website host people don't give you many options when customizing your site. I'm working with it though, and I'm really proud of some of my changes! Thank goodness for Youtube tutorials!!

As I have been going through my daily Bible reading, I have noticed so many more scriptures standing out to me. That is one thing I love about the Bible, each time you read it something new sticks out because of where you are in your life.
Recently, I started a "Scripture Notebook". I found this mini spiral notebook in the office supply section at Target. It was perfect for what I had in mind.
Now as I am reading, I will write down new favorites. I also add doodles and decorative edges to make it more fun to look at. This notebook is small enough I can put it in my purse.
I can't wait to fill it up!

Leave me a comment: How do you remember your favorite scriptures? Am I the only one who has one hundred different notebooks??

Deuteronomy 28:2

"All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, because you keep listening to the voice of Jehovah your God."

At Deuteronomy 28:2 the Hebrew verb for "keep listening" denotes continuous action. So instead of just listening occasionally, the people would have to make it their way of life. We can "keep listening" by reading our Bible regularly and by continually applying it's principles in all aspects of our lives-then we can expect blessings to "overtake" us.

Being sick is the worst! I had such an 'off' week. Seriously everything I did at work during the week I messed up. The worst thing was that I knew I was so out of it, and still had to be there and try my best. I also totally failed my Fitbit challenge that I did with a few friends. When you are sick the last thing you feel like doing is exercise. I feel like such a loser!
On the bright side I have this great raspy voice which is oh so entertaining.

By Saturday I felt much better! I got to spend some much needed time organizing around the house! My closet looks the best it has in a long time. I finally got all the summery stuff put away, and I even got Blake to get rid of a few ties (the guy has at least 60 ties).
I may or may not have a huge obsession with bins.

Then we got to babysit my nephew for a few hours. He is the cutest. This picture is a failed attempt at showing how good Delly is with kids! She sat right next to him the entire time. The problem is babies and dogs do not sit still long enough for a decent picture. I so admire photographers who are able to get good pictures of kids and pets.
Also, Delly is black as night-she does not photograph well indoors.

Sunday we went out! Ugh, I haven't said that in so long-I feel like an old lady!
Dinner and a movie with a few friends! Worst blogger award in the world goes to me, as I had an adorable outfit on and I didn't get a picture.

We got to see Mockingjay-Part one. I honestly have such mixed feelings about it! Mockingjay was not my favorite book of the series, so I feel like I already had a prejudice. It is such a sad book. Partly because you don't have the entertainment value of the Hunger Games, now you are just left with their reality of a horrible government and society that they live in. I also hate that they split it into 2 movies. I know they are just milking it for every dime, but it ends so abruptly and the story really could be told in one movie.

It will be very interesting to see how they complete the films without Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
Also, Jennifer Lawrence is not a bad singer at all! The Hanging Tree is so catchy, I had it in my head all night.

I love going to the movies! I can and will eat an entire tub of popcorn by myself if left unchecked. I even like the previews.
Which by the way: the first Jurassic World preview is supposed to come out on Thursday! I loved Jurassic Park, so I'm really excited to see what they do with the new movie.

Leave me a comment: So, what did you guys do this weekend? What movies are you looking forward to?

Weekend Round Up!

I'm watching:

Arrow season 2 :)) watch the Arrow season for free
Arrow: Season 2! Felicity is the best part of the show for me!

I'm reading:

I don't know if an Instagram counts as 'reading' but, I am so obsessed with this account! This little girl's very talented mom makes her the most beautiful costumes to wear to Disney! We see cute outfits all the time when we go, but these are seriously amazing.

I'm listening to:

San Narciso- Faded Paper Figures

Also listening to Serial, the podcast. Probably along with everyone else!!

I'm wishing for:

I finally picked out the planner that I want for 2015. My current planner stops at Dec 31st, and I have already started planning for next year! I'm getting a little desperate for a new one.
I would love to get this Kate Spade Agenda in Ikat. So cute right?

I need to:

Paint my nails! My goal is to keep them painted so I don't bite my nails! My aunt just bought me this mini OPI gift set. I can't wait to try my new colors, but I can't decide which to try first.

I'm looking forward to:

Next weekend! My family is heading to the beach!! I am especially excited because we get to bring Delly. Hopefully the weather will be bearable. If not we will just all get to stay inside and watch movies, which would be great too.

I'm making:

It has been so cold this week!! I made a big batch of Crockpot Taco Soup, and we have been eating on it for a few days.
Here is the recipe from my old recipe blog. One day I will re-post it to Pugs, Pearls & Positivity. It is a go-to recipe in our house!
