It is no secret that I am a completely novice photographer. I took photography in high school, and kind of have had an eye for it. My husband bought me an amazing Canon SLR a year or two ago and that has kind of upped my game. I've got so much to learn it's crazy.
A few years ago I took my best friend Mindy's bridal portraits. I can't believe she trusted me! When I look back at those pictures I want a re-do!! I'm so much better now. (She says she still loves them..so that makes me feel better.) Mindy asked me to take a few pictures for her family, since it is almost her parent's anniversary. I am all about opportunities to practice! I can't help but be slightly terrified-like they are counting on me to do a good job...
Well, I was nervous, but once we were actually out there taking pictures I got much more comfortable. My goal was to be more communicative about what I wanted pose wise. In the past, I didn't want to be too bossy or make it look staged, so I wasn't as vocal. But, I've realized people want you to tell them what to do!
Mindy's parents are adorable, but I could tell they were a bit uneasy about this photoshoot. (Mindy probably had to really talk them into it.) By the end I could tell they loosened up and didn't feel silly. A big confidence boost for me!
I am so happy with these pictures! The park we went to is super gorgeous, and we picked a great time of day to be outside. Here are a few of my favorites! I only hope they like them as much as I do.
xoxo Kristen
