Blake and I visited Zion in 2020 for our tenth anniversary trip. It was incredible! Such a weird memory though, because we went in early March 2020 - and when we got home from this trip the whole world was shut down. Just wild timing. Anyway, we loved Zion so much we knew we'd be back. So, here we are!

We actually devoted 2 full days to Zion, and I don't think we saw everything we wanted to see. Ultimately we did both of the Emerald Pool trails, the Canyon Overlook trail, and we took the trail that gets you to The Narrows. We also thoroughly enjoyed the visitor's center and made multiple trips to the Lodge. Who doesn't love a beer after a hike?!

The crowds were so overwhelming. Apparently that's pretty normal, but our previous experience was so different I wasn't expecting it. Plan accordingly!

Zion National Park

Monday, November 11, 2024

Technically, the Grand Canyon North Rim was closed when we visited. You can still go inside the park, but the visitor's center is closed. A few restrooms were open though. We had the park to ourselves!

We have been to the South Rim before, and I truly think you need to do both! They are so different, but both so beautiful! We loved seeing the canyon from the highest view at Imperial Point. We did the hardest trail I've ever done - the North Kaibab trail. This is the one people take to go Rim to Rim. We only descended 2 miles down into the canyon and then 2 miles back up. It was an elevation change of 1400 feet! SO challenging, but awesome. The views were incredible.

The Grand Canyon North Rim

Monday, November 4, 2024

Blake and I just returned from a week in Utah and Arizona! We did a few national parks, and today I wanted to share a few highlights from Bryce Canyon. This was both of our first visits to Bryce. The crowds were moderate, especially because we missed the tram services by 1 day. So, I think that means we were officially in the off season. The weather was beautiful and we really enjoyed this park! It's so red, which makes for really great photos!

Our main adventure was the Navajo Trail and the Queen's Garden trail for a total of about 4 miles with a 665 Ft Elevation gain.
