The Springtime Tallahassee 5k is something that has become such a tradition for our family and a lot of our friends! We've been doing it for years, and I recapped that when I posted about it last year.
Despite not running for the better part of a year, I faithfully signed up for this race. We had a great group of about 20! That's the best part, running along side so many people I love. In fact, I think it helps distract me - watching for familiar faces as we make the switchbacks.
I started 'training' at the end of February, and I set the goal of doing the race in 40 minutes - which is exactly what I was able to do. My apple watch even said I hit a 5k record (I got the watch just about a year ago, so that shows how little I've been running in the recent past.)
The hills in this route are no joke! But, we were grateful for no rain this year. And for many years in a row, my Pop won an award for his age group, 80+. I can only hope I'm still as active as him in my 80s!
