LOVING this new Book Worm decal design I have in my Etsy shop!

These Silent Woods by Kimi Cunningham Grant

A father and a daughter are living of the grid in the woods to hide from their past. I rated this 4 stars after I finished reading it, but I'll be honest when I went to type this post up it took me several minutes to even remember what this book was about. So, that may skew the rating a bit. Once I reread the synopsis, I remembered it. There are some really good, and almost creepy parts of this book. The 2nd quarter felt like it went on and on, but eventually it does end dramatically.

Majesty by Katharine McGee

The second book in the American Royals series. It's been a while since I read the first book, but I love the concept and the interesting idea of America as a monarchy. The characters all seem to go in different directions from the first book, and this one also ends on a huge cliff hanger.

The Art of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein

My sister in law said this is one of her favorite books. It's told from the point of view of the family dog Enzo. He watches his family go through big ups and downs throughout his life. His human dad is a race car driver. Ultimately, I do not recommend this if you've lost a pet recently, because gosh did I get emotional thinking about my two senior dogs (who are still with us, but you know, you can't help but imagine the future.) at the end of this. Lots of content warnings on this, it's not the innocent dog book I thought it was going to be. It took some twists I did not expect at all.

The Summer of Songbirds by Kristy Woodson Harvey

The perfect end of summer read! Three best friends that met when they were little girls at camp struggle to save that same summer camp that brought them together. So, this one took me a minute to get into. And honestly, I had trouble keeping these women straight. It seemed like there were a lot of sub plots and b list characters. Over all, this was a sweet story about friendship.

Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister

This was an almost 5 star read for me! I haven't stopped thinking about it. Jen witnesses her son Todd stab a stranger. She's shocked and heartbroken to say the least. But, after falling asleep later that night, she wakes up the next morning and it's not the next morning. It's yesterday. Every day she's waking up further in the past, and hopes to solve this crime from the beginning. I probably would have rated this a 5 star book if the 2nd quarter wasn't so repetitive. Of course it had to be a little bit, because she is literally repeating history, so I get why it was that way. I loved her reaction to older technology and putting all the pieces together as new information was revealed. Lots of language in this one.

The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey

Oh my goodness, this was a 5 star book for me. I can't think of any book better to read curled up in a blanket, next to a fire this winter. Based off of a Russian fairytale, it's set in Alaska in the 1920's. Jack and Mabel are a middle aged couple who have no children. One day they make a little girl in the snow. The next morning the snow girl is gone, and they see an actual little girl running through the woods. Gosh, this book was so emotional and the love just came off the page. It starts off very sad, and I'd say there is trigger warnings for suicidal thoughts and infant loss. But, quickly it turns into a story of hope and family. The whole time I had a pit in my stomach because I just knew it was going to end sad. And while it does, ultimately it's a sweet and happy book.

Fable by Adrienne Young

Fable is the daughter of a notorious sea trader, and she's been left on an island to fend for herself after her mother has drowned. So, this is a YA adventure, but it was so similar to the Siren Queen/Pirate King series, I dunno how I feel about it. I think I liked Pirate King better, but I'm giving the 2nd book a shot right now. Gorgeous cover though!
