Day "Off" In My Life

Wednesday, November 13, 2024

7:15 - My normal alarm goes off at 6 am, but today I didn't really have to get up at a specific time. The pugs were snuggly, and raindrops were hitting my window. 7:15 is still early, but felt a lot better than 6.

7:15-7:40 - I spent this time slowly rising. I did things like brush my teeth, and I got some workout clothes on. I opened the blinds, turned on the lights, put some oil in my diffuser....just all the usual things to wake up the house.

7:40 - 8 - After feeding the pugs, I got their harnesses on and took them for a quick walk down our street. I also used this time to take my Etsy orders to the mailbox. I just opened my shop back up yesterday from vacation, and so far the orders have been slow, but I'm thankful for that.

8:15 - 8:30 - Blake usually makes our breakfast each morning. He's gotten really good at putting together breakfast sandwiches (Mine is a bagel thin with a piece of bacon and an egg + cheese. He likes an english muffin). And he makes our coffees. (Our go-to recipe is here!) While he's working on breakfast, I pack his lunch. This has worked really well for us. Sandwiches usually taste better when someone else makes them right?

Blake's lunch: Turkey sandwich, Bettergoods Carolina Gold Chips, Cashews, Dried Pineapple (this is a must buy from Costco!), an orange, strawberries with Coolwhip, and Bettergoods truffles. The Bettergoods brand from Walmart has really impressed us! Blake says he could easily eat the whole bag of truffles.

8:30 - 9 - I'm calling this Admin time. I work on my to-do list for the day and check my planner. This is a good time to check emails, etc. I also had a blog post go up today, so I'm just checking in and making sure all looks right. I love putting on an 'ambiance' Youtube video while I work on the computer. I went with a jazzy fall video this time. I'm also going to start writing this post, so I don't have to remember all the details in one sitting later this evening.

9-10 - After looking at the forecast and realizing it was going to rain the whole afternoon, I decided to go for a walk around my neighborhood. Normally, I like to do an Apple Fitness + workout, and that's what I thought I'd do this morning, but I am so stinkin' sore from my workout yesterday, I felt like I needed to rest those muscles. A walk sounded great! I did about 50 minutes/2.3 miles, and basically chatted with my friend on Marco Polo the whole time. I finished my audiobook on Tuesday, and didn't have one to listen to - so talking to a friend kept me occupied.

10-12 - Cleaning time! I can't stall any longer. I've got laundry going, and I'm going to attempt to do the whole house top-to-bottom.
Here's what I accomplished:
> Kitchen: surfaces wiped down, stainless polished, and the morning's dishes put away. Also, I swept and mopped the floor.
> Guest Half Bath: This whole bathroom needed a cleaning, so it got the works.
>My Bathroom: Again, our bathroom needed a top-to-bottom cleaning and it shined up so well!
>Bedroom: I stripped our bed and threw the sheets in the wash. Then dusted, and did the floors.

12 - A break for lunch! I decided to make a salad with tuna. This is a go-to lunch for me. It's easy and flavorful. I ate, and then called my sister and talked to her for about 20 minutes. We talk pretty much everyday.

12:40 -2 - Time to keep cleaning! I was able to finish up downstairs, and also groomed the dogs. They need to be brushed pretty frequently to keep up with all the shedding. I also folded 2 or 3 loads of laundry. Some of which I started the other day, some I started this morning. I still have a basket to either iron or steam...we will see if I feel like doing that later today.

2:15 - I took a break because one of my cleaning clients asked me to send her an invoice, and I need to work one up.

2:30 - I was sick of being sweaty, so I decided it was finally time to shower for the day. Since I have the day free, I made it an extra long shower! Have you heard of an everything shower? Exfoliating, hair mask, all the extras. I also did some extra skin care and tidied up the bathroom.

3 - Sheets are done! I got my room put back together, and I absolutely can't wait to climb into those clean sheets tonight!

3:15 - 4:15 - This was just pure downtime. I hung out on the couch with the pugs, and mainly played a game on my iPad. Time got away from me, and the dogs reminded me they wanted their dinner around 4. So, they got fed and took a quick potty break outside.

4:15 - 5ish - I decided I really wanted to paint my fingernails. I used to have my nails painted all the time, but now I'm just so hard on my hands it never lasts. But, I wanted to have nice nails going into the weekend and sorely needed a manicure anyway. This was a great opportunity to get caught up on The Golden Bachelorette! Are you watching?

I actually really need to paint my toes too, but I currently still have a Gel pedicure on my toes (although extremely grown out) and I think I might need professional help getting it off. I got this done in September and here it is November and the polish is pretty much still on!

5 - I'm not sure what time Blake is getting off work tonight - he's got a late appointment so I think I'm on my own for dinner. I packed him an extra protein bar just in case it runs really late. When I do start dinner I will make his too, but just set it aside.
Tonight we are having Egg Rolls in A Bowl. It's a newer recipe to me, but we made it recently and loved it.

Here's how to make it:
Ingredients:

Uncooked 96% lean ground pork - 1 pound(s)

Scallions - 6 large, chopped

Garlic clove - 2 clove(s), minced

Fresh ginger - 1 Tbsp, minced

Soy sauce - 3 Tbsp

Unseasoned rice vinegar - 2 Tbsp

Apricot preserves - 1 Tbsp

Toasted sesame oil - 1 Tbsp

Packaged coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)- 6 cup(s)
1. Coat a medium nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium-high. Add pork, scallions, garlic, and ginger and cook, breaking up meat with wooden spoon, until pork is cooked through and no longer pink, 7 to 8 minutes.
2. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, jam, and oil, and heat through.
3. Divide pork mixture among 4 bowls and top each with 1½ cups coleslaw mix. Garnish with optional chopped scallions and hot sauce.
5:30 - Blake's going to be late, so I went ahead and ate! My mom encouraged me to watch the new show Matlock and so I watched while I had dinner. So far, it's a good show and I'm enjoying it! Dinner was delicious. I'll just keep watching episodes until Blake gets home.

6:30 - Blake finally got home around 6:30, and I helped him heat up his dinner and we caught up with each other after a long day. We mainly just talked and hung out. He loved the dinner, and finished off the skillet.

7:30 - Around this time I was craving something sweet! We got out the Ninja Creami and whipped up some 'Dole Whips'. The only ingredient is a can of pineapple! You freeze the pineapple for 24 hours and then you use the Sorbet function, and then Re-spin. We love this thing! Totally guilt free dessert.

7:45-8:45 - We've been rewatching through New Girl, and so Blake and I watched an episode or two.

8:45- 9 - Time to 'put the house to bed'. We spent about 15 minutes tidying up the kitchen, closing blinds, and putting detergent in the dishwasher. I always run the dishwasher after we go to bed, and I also run the robot vacuum. The dogs also went out for one last potty break.

9 ish - I don't know what time I actually fell asleep but it wasn't long after I got in bed! It was so nice to crawl into those fresh sheets!
