Work Out With Me!

Monday, August 28, 2017

Turbofire - Fire 45 EZ disc
45 minutes // approx 350 calories

I did a Turbofire video after work at my parents house! I love these videos! It's cardio, but you can really feel your muscles engaged. My fitness watch stinks at picking up when I do more stationary workouts so I'm guessing on the calories burned.

Local Fitness Class - Tabata
1 hour // 382 calories

I almost didn't get up to go to this class, but you never regret it if you do! This class goes by really fast because it's circuits, tabata style. So basically you alternate 2 exercises for 30 seconds with a 30 second break in between, and then move on to another set of 2 exercises. We did 9 circuits and I think we hit every single muscle group. My abs were screaming! This is a local studio really close to my house and it's cheap, but everytime I go in there I want to clean it. I try to remember to bring my own yoga mat and gloves-all their equipment is pretty worn out. But again, it's close, cheap and a great class.

Evening Walk
45 mins // 184 calories

Wednesday was a very busy day so to squeeze in something active, I asked Blake to go on an evening walk with me before we made dinner. This is absolutely one of my favorite things to do together! We always have the best conversations on these walks. I had an extremely socially exhausting day, but somehow I can talk to Blake for hours and never feel drained.

We live right in the middle of a perfect 2 mile block of sidewalks that a lot of people use for exercise. We always see friends out walking or jogging, and usually get honked at by people driving by. Small town life in a nutshell.

Class - Hard Body
1 hour // 254 calories

This class is different every week. Essentially we work out our entire bodies, but I think each week the instructor chooses a different body part to really pick on. This week was most definitely legs! Tons of work with the kettlebell, wall sits, and lots of box jumps. My legs were jelly after 10 minutes, and it's an hour class! Also, I finally figured out what to set my watch on during these types of workouts!

Funnily, I don't really like purple all that much, but my outfit was purple (down to the socks), I chose a purple mat, and all of my hand weights were purple.

Rest Day!

And, by rest day, I mean I had 2 cleaning jobs in addition to my 9-5 job. Early morning and late night! I do think I burn a good amount of calories doing cleaning, but I need to record it next time.

Slept in!

I set my alarm to get up and do an early workout on Saturday morning, but when I woke up my legs were killing me from Thursday's class. I didn't want to risk an injury, working out on such sore legs. And I really could use the extra hour of sleep, so I went back to bed! But, it was an active day nonetheless! I single handedly painted our master bathroom in the afternoon- which is definitely a physical activity! More about this little makeover soon!

Leave a comment below about your favorite type of workouts! Are you a living room warrior, or do you brave the gym? I really like classes, do you? And how often do you workout and how often do you have rest days?

  1. Wow!! I'm lucky if I can get to the gym three times a week! You're awesome! I love classes too because they sort of force me to go! I never want to pay the cancellation fee haha. All of these sound great! Evening walks are a favorite of ours :)

    1. Ideally, I'd like to work out every day-even if it's just a little something. But that doesn't always happen! The best thing is when you have a workout buddy!

  2. Amazing job! I'm also a big fan of outdoor walks for exercise. My gym doesn't offer classes but I do enjoy them. Love the bathroom!

    1. Classes are the best! Gym equipment is a little intimidating, but a class will help you learn new things and make you do things you don't want to do...which is what I need!

  3. Ugh. I HATE working out. I pretty much stick to walking and yoga- which obviously won't get me anywhere. Lol. I'd like to be better about it, but so far I haven't done anything. Good for you for getting moving!

    1. I know what you mean! I try to focus on how good I will feel afterwards, not on how hard it is. Helps a little. Seriously, the best thing is to find a good workout buddy to motivate you to do something new!

  5. Wow, what a healthy week you had! I am just starting to develop my new home workout routine now that I decided not to renew my gym membership. I definitely want to try out some videos in addition to my regular cardio & strength training circuits.

  6. I love that you're sharing your workouts! I will definitely look forward to these posts. I find them motivating when other bloggers share what their weekly workout routines look like. I'm in a major fitness rut right now, but I'm starting 9Round in November and am really looking forward to it! I wish I could start it tomorrow!

  7. You go girl!! I'm usually so disciplined with working out, but since I've stopped my PT sessions, my schedule has been erratic. I really need to get back into a routine but something ends up my streak - last disruption, a strained muscle. Sigh. Right, you've inspired me!!
