Weekend Round Up!

Sunday, December 7, 2014

First Friday at Railroad Square is always entertaining. I went a few times with friends several years ago when I still lived in Tallahassee. I have been wanting to get together with my friend Megan, and she was getting a group together to go to First Friday this weekend.
Railroad Square is a little nook in Tallahassee that houses art galleries, restaurants, a brewery and local crafter's shops. On the first Friday of every month they have basically an open house.
First Friday attracts all kinds! It has excellent people watching opportunities!
Here is a video that explains it a little better than I can:

We had a blast! It was such a fun group to go with.
We started at Proof-which is a local brewery. I'm sure that had a lot to do with our good time. They have such a cool place with lots of outdoor seating and cool hanging lights.

Then we walked around and toured some galleries. Lot of talent, and also lots of weird stuff that I think was beyond my scope of 'art'. (note the cow painting below-yes those are mini naked people!)
One of the artists was particularly amused with our interpretations of his metal sculptures.

The best part was just reconnecting with friends! I haven't laughed that hard in a really long time! Our group was great, and we also ran into quite a few people!

I brought my SLR, but it was so dark and I didn't want to blind everyone with the flash-so I ended up just taking a few phone pictures to share.

Leave me a comment: Have you been to First Friday? Do you think anything can be called art?
