I hesitated even writing this post, because I feel like it's not helpful or informative like I prefer my posts to be. But, I haven't posted in over a week, and I felt like I needed to pop in to say I'm alive! In fact, we are just doing what (most of) the rest of the world is doing and staying at home.
Over all, I am perfectly content at home. I miss having friends over and I miss being able to make plans. Our trip to Ireland for the fall was officially cancelled by the airline, so that was a bummer, but expected. We are hoping to reschedule for the spring, but who knows what things will be like then.
Things we've been doing:
-Watching movies! We have the majority of our movies digitally on VUDU-and we decided to go through them alphabetically. Z-A. We are only on the S's. It's been fun and eliminated the "what are we going to watch" question. I have put my foot down and said we are not watching every single James Bond movie, because we own all 50 of them. (I think it's actually like 25 but feels like 50)
- Cooking up a storm! I've been trying to watch what I eat, and the stay at home lifestyle has made that so much easier. We've definitely had our splurge days, but overall I'm really happy with how we've been eating. Blake and I work together on our meal plan for the week and generally cook together. I had him do the whole plan last week and he found some amazing recipes!
- Tanning! 😂 I've said it once, but if I'm coming out of quarantine with anything, it's going to be a tan! I've really enjoyed sitting outside and reading. I just counted, and I think I'm on book number 17 since the lock down began. It's been a joy! Not all the books were winners, but I've read a lot of good stuff.
(I don't get it, but our pugs loveee to sit outside with me. It's like 4000 degrees here, and I know they get hot, but they just love being with their people. Winston also likes to flat out steal my chair.)
Here is a little bonus picture of Delly girl. She is getting so gray! My O.G pug!
- A little hike! We were able to get out to a local State Park over the weekend and it was so peaceful. Hardly anyone else was there and it was so fun to meander. There is another SP not too far from us that I have not been to yet, so I'm hoping to go there soon.
- Painting! Well just a little. I ran out of paper, so I am awaiting my Amazon order! I used to paint a lot, but it's been years and years. Blake bought me a little watercolor set and I'm so eager to learn to use it! My new pack of paper should be here any day, so I'm looking forward to getting started. Isn't it amazing that we've all been able to start/or pick up an old hobby! This is a huge blessing.
- Golfing! Another hobby we love, but never have the chance to do. We had an amazing date day together and played 9 holes. It was blazing hot, but a blast! I lost my favorite ball in a water hazard on hole 2, just to find another really cool ball on the next hole someone else had lost. That always seems to happen. I was so rusty, but I'm hoping to play more often now that we have more free time. It was so easy to stay away from others out there on the course, and they had taken some precautions like removing the rakes and asking you not to remove the flags when putting.
- Turning 30! Gah! My mom always said your 30s are the best because you know who you are. That could not be more true. I really feel settled in a way I could never describe to my younger self. So far, my thirties have been kinda weird. 🤣
Well, I didn't want to write this post because I didn't feel like I had anything to say, but it turns out that as always, I have plenty to say. In fact, you probably didn't need to hear any of this, but it was fun to share anyway! Thanks for following along, and be sure to leave a comment below and tell me what you are up to! Are you enjoying this slower time, or are you ready to go back to 'normal'?
