A huge thank you to JORD watches for sending me my very own wooden watch, and for sponsoring the giveaway at the end of this post!
It's hard to say, but I think watches are my favorite accessory. Which speaks volumes about my personality, actually. Something decorative, that actually serves a purpose is totally my jam! I wear a watch everyday and if I forget to put one on my wrist feels naked.
I've seen these unique wooden watches pop up on blogs and on influencer's Instagram pages for years. Maybe you have too. And if you are anything like me, you've probably been curious about them! When JORD offered to send me a wooden watch of my own, I was downright giddy-if not a bit skeptical. So, what's a watch made out of wood really like?!
I've heard lots of "Oh, I love your watch!" and "Wait, a wooden watch?!" They are so unique that every time I've worn it people have noticed. I love these genuine reactions and how these watches are such easy conversation starters! Revealing more about myself here...I love to talk to people. I'm the weirdo that will strike up conversations with people in line at grocery store. (comment below if I'm your worst nightmare, haha)
Yes! Unexpectedly so. As a person with sensitive skin, this is what I was most curious about. My watch is incredibly lightweight and comfortable enough that you'll forget you're wearing it. (Expect when you look down to admire it, haha!) The best part is your watch will come to you ready to wear. You don't have to worry about taking it to a jeweler to have it sized, because Jord can do that for you. I was so nervous to measure my own wrist, but it's foolproof. My watch fits like a glove.
I chose the Frankie watch with the navy face. Surprised? Nah, me either. I swear I wear other colors, but navy is my go-to, favorite uniform on any given day. I'm so happy to have a watch that will go with literally almost every outfit I could possible put together in my closet.
Won't it get ruined if it gets wet?
Not to worry! Normal handwashing and sweating won't harm your watch at all. It's definitely not meant to be taken swimming with you, but most watches aren't. When my watch arrived it came with a cloth and conditioner. I thought it was going to be a tedious thing to take care of. But, not at all! You are supposed to condition your watch before you wear it and then about every 6 months. Very doable.
Best gift ever!
Not only are the watches themselves so cool, but they come beautifully packaged! My watch is going to be very cozy in it's matching wooden box when I'm not wearing it. Plus, the box has a great drawer on the bottom to house the cleaning cloth and conditioner too.
Not to mention you can get the back of your watch engraved! A special date, or a scripture would be a great thing to keep close. JORD does both men's and women's wooden watches, so it's a great gift idea for an anniversary. My husband is really hard to shop for, but I really don't think you can go wrong with a personalized watch. You can also have the watch box engraved as an added touch.
(Anyone else have this crazy fly-away hair this time of year?!)
