Delly Around the House

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

I thought my fellow pug lovers out there would appreciate some of these pictures! Recently I had the morning 'off', meaning I didn't have to go anywhere, but I did have quite the to-do list around the house. While I was busy doing chores, Delly kept me company. Pugs are very people oriented, and she, like most pugs, follows us around everywhere. Delly recently learned how to open our bathroom door, which still scares me every time she barges in!

I have a few blogging projects up my sleeve, so my camera was out and I couldn't help but snap some pictures of our crazy pug whilst I went about my day. I hope you love them as much as I do!

This first one is in our living room in her 'spot'. This window faces out to the street and from this comfy perch she can see the neighborhood and anybody who comes up to the door. I started keeping that blanket there to protect the chair-but the cushion is already a bit droopy from her laying on it all the time.

She always follows me outside if I don't shut the door quick enough. She came out with me to check the mail and refused to come back inside, so I went back in and grabbed my camera to capture her defiance.

Fortunately I'm able to do a lot of my work from home, and Delly has a bed in our office. She prefers my lap to the bed, though, and will jump up if I ever give her the chance. I love snuggles, but using my elbow as a chin rest gets to be pretty inconvenient-especially when I need to type.

Delly sleeps with us. Usually in the morning when we get up and are getting ready in the bathroom, she would mosey on in and hang out on the bathroom rug. About 5 months ago we got an ah-mazing mattress topper that is heavenly. Yeah, since then Delly just watches us from the bed. She gets fed first thing in the a.m. and after she goes outside it's right back in the bed, where she 'belongs'. In this shot she's super irritated that I disturbed her.

One thing I don't really like about our house is that we have to go outside to get to our laundry room. It's inconvenient for me, but Delly loves coming out with me to switch the clothes! The Jasmine is blooming so nicely right now, and I really don't mind going outside if I get to smell it! Delly has always looked her best next to green, hehe.

That last one cracks me up! She is such a little poser. I've noticed lately how many gray hairs are popping up on her chin and she even has a little gray highlight on her tail! It makes me a little sad. She's only 5 and she's got a long healthy life ahead, but she's not a pup anymore. Having a puppy was a lot of work, and older dogs are certainly more calm, but I miss it!! Delly basically sleeps all day and then gets really playful at night when we both get home from work. I think I totally interrupted her napping schedule for this photoshoot, and her face says it all.

I hope you enjoyed a day in Delly's life, and this little glimpse into our home! Leave me a comment and let me know which picture you liked best!

  1. OMG! I so enjoyed this post. Delly is simply adorable. I have a 5-year old black male, Nigel and a fawn female, Sophie who is 6. I only wish my two were as calm as Delly appears. Keep sharing.

    1. Nigel and Sophie are such great pug names! Delly has really calmed down in the last year. She still gets very excited when we get home or when someone stops by. She plays really hard, but only for short bursts!
