If we want to be a true friend like Jonathan was to David at 1 Samuel 20:32 we need to develop loyalty. Jonathan wasn't resentful of David's future kingship and instead of seeking his own interests was ready to defend David against his father. If we want to be a good friend, we should be happy when our friends receive privileges and be ready to show support and loyally defend them.
